The purpose of the Friends of the Palm Beach County Public Library, Inc. shall be to focus public attention on library services, facilities and needs; to raise funds for scholarships and special projects; and to stimulate gifts to the collection, endowments and bequests; assist in the development of a program(s) for the extension and improvement of library services and resources to adequately serve the needs of the population of the Palm Beach County Public Library System; promote knowledge of the functions, resources and services of the Library; engage in fundraising activities; and sponsor programs designed to add to the cultural life of the County.
The Friends of the Palm Beach County Public Library, Inc. was formed in 1980 to be operated exclusively for charitable and educational purposes and encourage and stimulate gifts of books, magazines, desirable collections, endowments and bequests to aid the needs of the Palm Beach County Library.
The Friends of the Palm Beach County Public Library, Inc., support cultural programs and activities for children and adults; focus public attention on library services, facilities and needs; administer the Ingrid A. Eckler Scholarship fund for library employees who are pursuing a Masters Degree in Library Science; and stimulate gifts to the collection, endowment and bequests.
Members of the Friends are involved in the community by volunteering for special events and book sales, encouraging friends and neighbors to donate used materials (books, CDs, DVDs, magazines, etc.) for resale at all branches, and serving in leadership roles by becoming a Board member. Members are also encouraged to support the organization financially through gifts and estate planning.
